MY BOOK IS DONE, SAVED ON WORD, HOW MUCH TO JUST TAKE IT AND PUBLISH IT FOR ME, TAM? Barring any major tab or hard-return errors, your MS can be formatted and published on Amazon (using CreateSpace) for print, Kindle and Nook eBooks for a total of $150.00. If you need a bookcover, I can advise you on making one for free on CreateSpace, OR my company makes gorgeous custom covers from $75 (front only for eBooks) or $150 (full cover, front, spine, and back)*.

QUESTIONS! We all have them. We all ask them. We all seek answers to them. Budding new writers have the most questions of all. Here within the pages of this website, I aim to answer some of your questions as clearly and as succinctly as possible. My advice is based upon my experience and my desire to help anyone who asks.

Why I Care: A deep-seated urge to serve my fellow writers developed as I received help writing and publishing my first novel. So many helpful hands gave me the tools to help others. I only hope I can pass on the same kindness and helpfulness to make a successful and happy writer out of you.

I have a print book already, should I care about Kindle?

·         Kindle outsells print books 10 to 1 according to the latest statistics! If your book is not for sale on Kindle, you are missing a huge piece of the author’s pie! To publish on Kindle is FREE. You need only provide an appropriately formatted document and a book cover image. You set the price and the royalty, and they do the work. All sales are deposited into your bank account monthly, and detailed sales reports are generated for FREE!

What it Costs: No secrets, no tricks, my verbal advice is FREE. For all other help that required big chunks of my time, I will give concise prices of my services so you can budget and decide what is best for you. The Author’s Mentor doesn’t want to cheat you; she only wants to be paid for services rendered at a fair (economy-friendly) rate.

v  Interior Book Design/also called Interior Formatting Design

·         Beautiful, professional, and unique to your specific needs interior formatting for a digital manuscript document (accepted files .doc, docx., .RTF, only). Includes a “glazing edit”* to catch glaring grammatical errors. (This does not include uploading it to the printer. Keep reading.)

§  100 8.5” x 11” pages or less -- $100.00 (short stories and novellas can cost less/ask!)

v  Book-cover Design by the dream team of Ellen Maze and Elizabeth Little. A Mother-Daughter team that has created book covers for many authors, and whose covers help sell books!  $150.00 includes front and back with 1 major revision if necessary. (More info on this elsewhere)

v  Setting you up on CreateSpace (my preferred POD supplier/publisher). $25.00  -- I will aid you in setting up an account with CreateSpace, fill in all the blanks for you, upload your cover and your book, and make sure it is published well. Then when it hits the shelves, CreateSpace will deposit your earnings directly into your bank account and you won’t need me anymore. If you do, just email! As of July 2011, CreateSpace publishing fee is $39 (so add that to my $25 fee) for the preferred package. I will recommend this package to everyone who desires to sell their book. If you only want small groups to buy it, you can publish for FREE on CreateSpace).

v  Publish you on KINDLE and NOOK – these formats are so similar, that there is no need to charge separate fees.

1.       $50.00 if you’re sending me a manuscript that can be opened in Word (.doc, .docx,. rtf )

2.       $75.00 if you’re sending me a raw, unformatted manuscript and you need me to do a “glazing edit” (see asterisk below)

 

What is the Turnaround Time: This depends on the number of projects in-house at the time you call, but as of September 1, 2011, turnaround is 6 weeks from the time you give me your manuscript and...(drum roll)...

*”Glazing Edit” not intended to replace professional editing. With this edit, I can find glaring misspellings, poor word-choice, poor formatting errors, and misplaced words. The author must acquire professional editing outside of the Author’s Mentor, or sufficient self-editing to be truly satisfied.

I will consult fully with each author before we enter into any monetary exchange, and if my services are not appropriate for you at this time, I will let you know. I cannot knowingly promote unprofessionalism in literature, so only send in your best work if you are ready to publish. If you'd like help in making your book the best it can be, I will happily advise you in what to do next! I will not knowingly engage in business with books that promote hate of any sort.
